We traveled to Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas for the Binghampton Symposium October 13-15, 2017. Carla gave an invited talk on ecogeomorphology and the role of organisms in sediment and nutrient cycling. Zach gave a poster on the role animals play in altering sediment biogeochemistry. Lisa Davis and her student, Matt Koerner also traveled. Matt presented a poster on our summer enclosure experiments highlighting how mussels may impact sediment transport, cohesion, and compaction. The field trip, talks, and conversations were great!
It's been a busy month!! Our enclosure experiment on the Sipsey ended, the lab plus other aquatic friendly folks went on a Sipsey River canoe adventure, Carla gave a seminar at University of Southern Mississippi, and Dan Knapp gave a poster presentation at the University of Alabama Biofest. Dan received 3rd place for his poster and a prize! The lab is busy with physiology experiments, sample prep, etc.
