The first annual ATKAPPS Exchange will be held at the University of Alabama in October 2015. During the exchange, members of the Atkinson Lab of the University of Alabama and the Capps Lab of the University of Georgia will get together and explore what it is like to be in an aquatic ecology laboratory at a different institution. We will also visit (via hiking, canoeing, etc.) local freshwater systems. This year we plan to canoe the Cahaba River, which is near Tuscaloosa, AL. The Exchange is a time for a celebration of freshwater ecology and an exploration of what it means to be a freshwater scientist in the southeast. In future years, we hope to involve more early-career freshwater scientists from the southeastern US in the exchange. Please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Carla Atkinson or Dr. Krista Capps with questions. Roll Dawgs!
